SUNDARBANS-old
Mangrove magic
Sundar means beautiful and Ban means forest, so Sundarbans literally translates into a beautiful forest. It’s wet swamps are one of the exotic biodiversity hotspots in Asia and is home to more than 2000 species of flora and fauna.
Sundarbans has been recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its pristine mangroves and for being the natural habitat of the Royal Bengal Tiger. It is spread over ten thousand sq. kms with most parts of it in Bangladesh and the rest in the West Bengal state of India (which we will be visiting).
It is one of the last few places where you can spot a good number of tigers in the wild and hence is every nature loving photo-enthusiast’s dream destination. Sunderbans offers a variety of subjects (birds, crocodiles, leopards, tigers, moneys, deer, sharks and even Gangetic dolphins) and landscapes (mangroves, rivers & avifauna rich forests) to make beautiful macro, natural and landscape pictures.
