The warm wind swirls the dust on the muddy path to haze the sighting of the elegant creatures roaming inside their territory.
The mystical Leopards reside on the rocks of Jawai. Their printed skin blends evenly with the tone of the boulders and their presence is covered by the shrubs grown on the rocky hills. Jawai Bandh is a famous dam built across river Jawai, at the Somerpur town of the Pali district in Rajasthan. It is considered the largest dam in the Western Rajasthan with a vast catchment area. The waters of the dam create pleasant surroundings and attract several species of birds to nest in their vicinity.
The region shelters more than 240 species of birds out of which 50 are migratory found during winters between October and March. Spotting the colourful birds through the binoculars is an exciting activity in the dam area. The Greater Flamingos can be seen gliding above the waters in style and the ducks quietly waddle through the serene dam waters.
The waters also host crocodiles which can sometimes be seen resting on the banks of the dam. The most captivating scenery of the region belongs to the Jawai hills around the still waters. The billion-year-old rock formations are home to wild Leopards who command the local terrains with their magnificent demeanour.
