If you’re a wildlife devotee then a tiger trail has to be your holy grail. In addition, if you’re thirsting tigers then there’s no better place to be in this country other than Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve. Legend holds that Taru was a village chief who died in a mythological encounter with a tiger. Today, the forest gains its name from this mythical, godly chief and visitors from its burgeoning population of tigers.

A great opportunity to observe, learn about and photograph the majestic cat in its dominion. You will understand the nuances of wildlife photography. How best to use the available light to create high impact images. How to posit yourself properly and wait for the right moment rather than go trigger happy. A lot of interactions on the field and off it regarding compositions and post processing will help you to up your photography skills many notches.

Tadoba Tiger Reserve

Embrace The Cat Luck

So why would you visit Tadoba again? Let’s spell it out – this is the best tiger territory in the country. Replete with grasslands, deciduous forests, lakes and evergreen patches, you can find tigers in pretty much every kind of habitat. Don’t get us wrong here; tigers are not the only attraction. Tadoba also happens to be home to a healthy population of Indian Wild Dogs, a.k.a Dholes, Sloth Bear and not to mention, the rather elusive leopards. Amongst the smaller predators, you should keep your fingers crossed for a sighting of the elusive Jungle Cat, the Indian Civet or better still, the Rusty Spotted Cat.

You’ll love Tadoba for its healthy density of herbivores. Spotted Deer and Sambhar Deer dot the lakeside and every now and then be prepared to find Barking Deer or for that matter the rare Chowsingha. The mighty Indian Gaurs make formidable prey for the tigers as well. In addition, the over 250 bird species recorded at the forest keep you on your toes between tiger sightings. Tadoba has a rather healthy population of raptors, so even if you aren’t a birder you should have no dearth of big, photogenic avian subjects.

Oct 26th – 29th 2017 ( 3N/4D – 6 safaris)
Read Includes and Excludes section carefully.
  • Day 1 – Oct 26th (Thu)
We’ll arrive in Nagpur by the early morning flight and leave for Tadoba with a breakfast stop enroute. Our aim is to check in to our resort by lunchtime. After a sumptuous lunch and an overview of the park, we’ll be ready to make our first foray into the real land of tigers. Reports of sightings from the morning usually influence the evening safaris. Tigers don’t move around too much during the day, so we have a good chance of striking gold on our very first drive! If nothing, we’ll surely find enough birds, herbivores and landscapes to keep us shutter happy through the evening.

Once we’re back in the resort, we’ll freshen up, get some food and retire for the night. It would have been a rather long day.

  • Day 2-3 – Oct 27th (Fri) – Oct 28th (Sat)
Our next two days will follow a familiar pattern. We’ll head out of our room at first light and try to track down tigers while they’re still returning from their late night patrols. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears pricked for any clues that the forest throws us. If all goes well, we should find enough tigers to keep your cameras busy.

Evenings will generally use clues and intel from the morning. We’ll also use the twilight hours to make creative images against the setting sun. Once we’re back in the dorm, we’ll review each other’s images and share tips and tricks for the field and post processing.

  • Day 4 – Oct 29th (Sun)

After a last morning drive into the forest, which we truly hope will end our trip on a high; we’ll tuck into a hearty breakfast and be on our way back to Nagpur. We’ve got all the ingredients for a hard-drive filling photography experience. Like all good things though, this trip must come to an end – until of course, Birdwing brings us together again!
